Amazing Compassion believes that an investment in education is the most effective way to break the cycle of poverty and control HIV infections among the youth.

Educational Programs

Our programs include:

Creation of multipurpose educational centers or schools that provide free services to children and their families. Most of our centers have income generating activities that support some of the operations.

School re-entry for younger mothers. Often, underage teen mothers are denied the right to education based on stigma and cultural pressure. Most of the time caused by the lack of finances. Once these girls are identified and are willing to return to school, this program assists with counseling, guidance and school fees.

Construction and operation of free, preschool programs and secondary schools.

Provision of school fees and scholarships to children from extremely poor families to ensure they have the opportunity to complete secondary school and, in many cases, college.

Academic monitoring, guidance and mentorship.

Provision of other requirements necessary to ensure the ability of children to pursue their rightful dreams, to be competitive and to be committed to changing their lives and communities for the better.

Care for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC)

Amazing compassion strongly believes that the best place to raise a child is in a home with a responsible adult and has a proven track record of programs to support caretakers especially grandparents who are shouldering the responsibility of raising their orphaned grandchildren. Institutions or orphanages should be the last resort as they tend to separate families, are generally expensive to maintain, and generally tend to isolate children from the larger community and culture. We are committed to strengthening communities and families with programs to support grandparents and to train and support foster care parents and families members who are willing to care for orphaned children.

Health and Nutrition Programs

Amazing Compassion focuses on the training of local change agents in basic public health awareness to help communities control preventable illnesses that consume their time and cause unnecessary premature deaths especially of infants and the elderly. As part of these services we provide food and other nutritional suppliments to the those infected by HIV-AIDS.

* Training of trainers in areas such as home-based care, good nutrition and community-based social workers.

* Nutrition education and assistance to meet basic nutritional needs.

* Other needs as identified by the target community.

Community Outreach Programs

Every year Amazing Compassion engages in projects that extends a helping hand to the community at large. These include;

* Providing schooling materials to all the children in the community.
* Providing health screenings for children and adults alike including immunizations.
* Providing clothing to members of the community.
* Assisting in the provision of many other essentials of daily life.

Amazing Compassion works in an equal participatory partnership where the demand is greatest and where children and communities welcome support and are equally committed to building a bright future for themselves.
